Nationwide — Aaron Hill, a high school principal in West Frankfort, Illinois, has resigned from his position while facing an ongoing felony investigation. The school district confirmed his departure following an aggravated battery arrest tied to an off-campus incident.
The School District said Hill submitted an irrevocable resignation letter on Monday night. Officials accepted it immediately, ending his role at Frankfort Community High School.
According to WLBT, Hill was arrested in February on a felony aggravated battery charge connected to an investigation in Franklin County. Authorities have not released further details about the case.
District leaders said the alleged incident happened off campus and was not related to any school activity. They did not provide additional information about the circumstances surrounding the charge.
Hill had been placed on paid administrative leave on February 3 as the investigation moved forward.
The school board continues to handle personnel matters in line with district policy while the case remains under review.
