Los Angeles, CA — Columbus Short, a former Scandal actor, has been released from jail after serving only 34 days of his one-year sentence for beating his wife. The LA County Sheriff’s Department didn’t give a reason for the early release.
Short, who was charged with physically abusing his wife Aida Abramyan, has pleaded no contest November last year.
He was initially sentenced to 36 months probation. However, he was already on probation for a previous law violation wherein he was involved in a bar fight. He was sentenced to one-year in jail instead.
Short began his sentence on February 13 but was released on March 19, much sooner than his original release. There were no explanations from the LA County Sheriff’s Department regarding Short’s early release.
The 35-year-old actor is no stranger to conflicts with the law. He previously served a month in jail for violating his probation after testing positive for drugs.
He was also reportedly removed from the TV series Scandal for allegedly aiming a knife to his wife’s throat and threatening to kill her in 2014.
