Alexandria, VA — Alfred Street Baptist Church (ASBC), the oldest and largest African American congregation located at 301 S. Alfred Street in Alexandria, Virginia will offer FREE health screenings, flu shots, and Q&A discussions with well-known physicians at their 2014 Annual Community Health Fair from 9 AM – 3 PM. Participants will also have a chance to win great raffle prizes including a Samsung Galaxy tablet, gift cards, and autographed football jerseys. All attendees will receive FREE gift bags.Additionally, ASBC will be providing over 300 community members with free screenings that address today’s most critical health issues, including blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, dental, HIV/AIDS, and diabetes, the Alfred Street Community Health Fair also offers:
* Healthy cooking demonstrations and tastings.
* Free vision and hearing tests.
* Gender specific panel discussions with physicians covering health areas such as breast cancer, weight management, cardiology, prostate, and skin care.
* Interactive demonstrations such as reflexology, self-defense, yoga, dance, aerobic exercise, and chair massage.
Over 15 doctors and 40 organizations will donate their time in support of Alfred Street’s health and wellness mission. Vendors include AARP, American Heart Association, American Diabetic Association, Walgreens, and many more.

The 2014 Community Health Fair occurs on the same day as Alfred Street Baptist Church celebrates the sixth anniversary of Pastor Wesley as well as his visionary program, entitled Feed the 5,000, which he launched to ensure that underserved individuals and families in the Alexandria and surrounding communities receive food and health screenings at this time of the year. Over 5000 individuals will be fed just as Jesus fed the multitudes with five loaves of bread and two fish. On September 27th, Alfred Street Baptist Church will touch thousands of lives in our community and surrounding communities all in support of better health.
