The USPTO has issued LeadDash its federal trademark registration, sealing Dr. Ashley Bryant’s pro se victory over the $70 billion tech giant
Nationwide — On April 28, 2026, the United States Patent and Trademark Office issued federal trademark registration number 8,227,151 for LEADDASH to Dr. Ashley Bryant, a licensed therapist and founder of LeadDash Marketing LLC. The registration closes the chapter on a story that captured national attention earlier this year, when Dr. Bryant defeated DoorDash, Inc. in a federal trademark opposition without hiring a single attorney.
The case, DoorDash, Inc. v. LeadDash Marketing LLC, Opposition No. 91299424, was dismissed with prejudice on February 18, 2026, after Dr. Bryant represented herself for eight months. The dismissal is permanent. DoorDash cannot refile the same challenge again, and now, with the federal registration officially in hand, Dr. Bryant holds nationwide protection for the LeadDash mark in the category of cloud-based software for small businesses.
“This is the part I waited for,” she said. “When the case was dismissed, the headlines said I won. But I knew the win wasn’t real until the certificate was in my hand. Now it is. The fight is over, and the paperwork agrees.”
DoorDash filed its Notice of Opposition in June 2025, arguing that LeadDash would confuse consumers with its DASH-branded products, including DOORDASH, DASHPASS, and DASHER. Dr. Bryant filed a comprehensive answer arguing that a food delivery company and a HIPAA-compliant practice management platform for licensed mental health professionals share no overlap in consumers, channels, or services. She drafted every motion, met every filing deadline, and never retained counsel.
“I built LeadDash to serve mental health professionals, a community that is already underserved and overworked,” Dr. Bryant said when the case was dismissed in February. “My brand has nothing to do with food delivery. I knew that. The facts showed that. And I wasn’t going to let the size of their legal team change what was true.”
The story was first reported by KFOR in Oklahoma City on March 12, 2026, and subsequently picked up by Black Enterprise, Face2Face Africa, and more than two dozen additional outlets across the country. DoorDash did not respond to KFOR’s request for comment at the time of broadcast.
DoorDash has a documented pattern of filing oppositions against small businesses whose names include the word “dash.” Most fold. Dr. Bryant did not.
“The small business is usually the one to walk away. I didn’t walk away. In the end, DoorDash decided they were going to walk away,” Dr. Bryant said. “What I want other founders to take from this is simple. The size of the company across from you doesn’t decide the outcome. The facts do. And you are allowed to fight for what you built.”
