Atlanta Rapper DJ Unk Dies at 43, Wife Confirms Cause of Death

Nationwide — The wife of rapper DJ Unk, who sadly passed away at the young age of 43 on January 24th, has confirmed that he suffered a heart attack in his sleep. She also clarified that rumors about drug use causing his death are false.

DJ Unk was an American rapper and DJ best known for his 2006 hit singles “Walk It Out” and “2 Step,” which became popular dance anthems. His music gained widespread fame for blending Southern hip-hop with catchy, danceable beats.

According to TMZ, Sherkita shared the heartbreaking news on Facebook, asking for privacy during their time of grief. She wrote, “Please respect me and my family. I just lost my husband and my kids just lost their father. Our life will never be the same. I LOVE YOU ANTHONY FOREVER”

DJ Unk began his music career in the late 1990s and co-founded Southern Style DJs with DJ Montay and DJ Jelly. He signed with Big Oomp Records in 2000, becoming a notable figure in the hip-hop industry. Though he faced health challenges in 2009 that affected his career, he continued to release music in the years that followed.

Sherkita emphasizes that Unk did not use drugs, putting to rest rumors surrounding his untimely death.
