Black-Owned Subscription Service Gives Patients 24/7 Access to Consult With a Doctor From Their Smartphone or Tablet

Entrepreneur Bill Wilson has launched an innovative service that helps people (insured or uninsured) meet with a doctor within minutes, instead of having to wait hours in an emergency room!

Bill Wilson, founder and CEO of OnDoc

Philadelphia, PA — After almost three decades of working in the healthcare industry, Bill Wilson grew tired of observing underprivileged demographics suffering from a lack of access to affordable healthcare. Realizing that these disparities have continued to increase annually, he finally decided to do something about it. This is the story of OnDoc.Wilson spent nearly 30 years in the healthcare industry working for multi-billion-dollar international companies such as Pfizer, Sanofi, and Merck. He also served as a Vice-President for other organizations such as Cardinal Health that assisted pharmaceutical companies in managing their multi-million-dollar clinical trials.

During this time, he recognized the increasing deficit for access to healthcare for millions of people across the nation, including a disproportionate number of minorities and underserved. As a busy professional, he also saw the inconvenience associated with getting to see a physician for non-emergency needs, including missed time from work, delays in scheduling appointment, travel and waiting time in crowded physicians’ offices.

“Over 75% of visits to an emergency room, urgent care, or doctor’s office are unnecessary and could be effectively managed with the convenience provided by OnDoc,” says Wilson.

Wanting to address these challenges, Wilson founded OnDoc. OnDoc is a telehealth service that provides access to a doctor anytime, anywhere via phone, tablet, computer, or smart device for a virtual consultation. It is a simple, convenient, and affordable option for the more than 80 million people in the United States who have limited or no access to healthcare. In addition, it is a great solution for business professionals, college students, families with children, and others who may currently have some type of healthcare coverage but want the convenience of seeing a physician within 10 minutes or less with no appointment, from home or work. When necessary, a prescription can be called in immediately to the local pharmacy.

“OnDoc has been a blessing for thousands of people,” says Wilson. “They have access to approximately 5,000 U.S. Board Certified physicians literally at their fingertips.”

An OnDoc subscription covers the member and all household dependents for one low monthly cost equaling less than $1 per day. This covers unlimited usage for all members with no additional costs per use. In addition to the 24/7 physician access, the OnDoc subscription also provides other benefits, including pharmacy savings that average 46 percent per prescription. It provides the ability to consult with physicians, pharmacists, psychologists, dentists, dieticians, and more whenever needed. The member can also work with a dedicated advocate that will help negotiate discounts on medical bills as well as clarify insurance benefits and claims information.

“As expected, starting any business with this magnitude of benefit for millions in the U.S. comes with challenges and opportunities,” Wilson says.

Early on, OnDoc found group and association contacts ranging from churches, various ethnic organizations, and a housing complex with over 2,500 homes that now provides OnDoc healthcare services to all residents as a value-add service for living in the sub-division.

“We were also immediately contacted by philanthropists and professional entertainers and athletes who wanted to provide financial support for families in their local communities,” states Wilson. Laughingly he continues, “Of course they would prefer to receive a tax-exempt status for this contribution.”

Due to increasing interest in sponsorship opportunities, OnDoc formed an affiliate program. Called OnDoc Cares, the program recently received IRS 501c3 approval to allow for tax deductible donations to the “Sponsor A Family” program, which OnDoc created.

“We look forward to assisting the millions of people in the U.S. who can benefit from the OnDoc service,” concludes Wilson.
