1,000’s of Black Women Who Took Tylenol While Pregnant May Be Entitled to Compensation

Nationwide — Thousands of African American women who took Tylenol or generic acetaminophen during pregnancy at a high dose or for an extended period may be entitled to substantial compensation if their children are now autistic or have been diagnosed with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). This adds to an already existing problem when it comes to Black maternity as studies show that Black mothers are three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than their white counterparts. A responsible group of attorneys has filed a class action lawsuit against the popular pharmaceutical brand after new studies revealed that using acetaminophen products while pregnant can increase a child’s risk of developing neurological disorders. As a result, many leading law firms are filing cases on behalf of victims and their families.

Acetaminophen, the main ingredient used in Tylenol, is an analgesic drug used to relieve mild or chronic pain and to reduce fever, often as an alternative to aspirin. Proprietary names include Tylenol. Acetaminophen is the most common pain reliever used to manage pain during pregnancy.

Other brand-name drugs that use acetaminophen include Alka-Seltzer, Excedrin, Goodys, NyQuil or DayQuil, Midol, Panadol, Mucinex, Robitussin, Sinex, Sudafed, Theraflu, Topamax, and more.

Parents would only be entitled to compensation if the child is currently under the age of 18.
