40,000 Black Women Raised Over $1.5M For Kamala Harris in Under 3 Hours

Vice President Kamala Harris

Nationwide — Over the weekend, President Biden surprised the nation by announcing that he would not seek reelection and that he was endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic candidate for the upcoming presidential election. In light of his announcement, a movement called Win With Black Women organized a significant call that saw participation swell to over 40,000 Black women. In just three hours, they raised more than $1.5 million in support of Vice President Harris, demonstrating their impressive grassroots organizing power.

This remarkable show of unity and determination underscores the strength of grassroots movements. Despite the political uncertainties, the commitment and activism of groups like Win With Black Women offer hope for a united and progressive future.

The response to Biden’s decision was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing gratitude for his service. Vice President Harris, honored by the endorsement, pledged to unite the Democratic Party and the nation. She emphasized her commitment to defeating former President Donald Trump and his “Project 2025” agenda.

As the media buzzed with analysis and speculation, the organization Win With Black Women quickly mobilized in response to the news. Founded in 2020 by Jotaka Eaddy, the group initially brought together 90 women on a Zoom call to strategize for the 2020 election. Since then, it has grown to a formidable network of over 4,000 intergenerational and intersectional Black women leaders nationwide.
