Woman Arrested for Buying Lamborghini While Receiving Medicaid Benefits

Nationwide — Candace Taylor, an African American woman from Slidell, Louisiana, was arrested after police said she lied to get Medicaid benefits while her businesses made millions. She allegedly used the money for luxury items, including a Lamborghini.

Taylor, 35, was taken into custody by the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation on Monday. According to WWNYTV, officials said she applied for Medicaid using the name Candace Sailor and claimed to have no income and no dependents.

Her first application in 2019 was denied. But in 2020, she reportedly reapplied with inconsistent details, still using the alias. Over the next four years, investigators said she kept hiding her business earnings while collecting government health care benefits.

Records show Taylor’s companies brought in over $9.5 million between 2020 and 2024. Despite claiming zero income in 2020, her bank accounts showed deposits of more than $480,000 that year. She also made large purchases, including vehicle payments to Audi Finance, luxury jewelry, and cosmetic procedures.

Investigators said she wired $100,000 to an exotic car dealer and made a $13,000 payment on a 2022 Lamborghini Urus. Just two months later, she allegedly applied again for Medicaid, stating she made $2,000 a month and owned no businesses.

Authorities also reviewed her social media accounts, where she posted pictures of her luxury lifestyle on Facebook and Instagram.

Taylor now faces one count of government benefits fraud. She was booked at East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. The case is still under investigation.
