Nationwide — Christopher O’Neil Miller, who is from Mauldin, South Carolina, has been charged after admitting he knowingly exposed a pregnant woman to HIV without telling her. He also gave police a fake name to avoid arrest on unrelated warrants.
The police were called to an apartment complex on July 12 after reports of a disturbance. When officers arrived, they found Miller and questioned him. Officers say he lied about his identity because he had outstanding arrest warrants.
While investigating the incident, police learned that Miller had been in a relationship with a woman who is now seven months pregnant with his child. During questioning, Miller admitted he knew he was HIV-positive but didn’t tell the woman because he didn’t want her to find out, according to WLBT.
Police arrested him at the scene. He was charged with unlawful exposure to HIV. He also faces a financial identity fraud charge for giving false information to authorities.
Miller was booked into the Greenville County Detention Center. His bond was set at $60,000.
