Nationwide — Prosecutors in the D4vd murder case have revealed that several key pieces of evidence remain missing as they continue building their case against the singer. The missing items include the alleged murder weapon, personal belongings, and other evidence investigators say could help support their case.
During a preliminary hearing, prosecutors detailed the evidence they have collected and the items investigators have not been able to recover. Among the missing evidence are two of Celeste’s fingers, including her left ring finger, which prosecutors said had D4vd’s name tattooed on it, and her pinky finger.
According to TMZ, prosecutors also said investigators have not found the sharp object they believe was used to kill Celeste. They said D4vd allegedly had possession of the missing fingers, a shovel, a blue Makita 10-inch chainsaw, and a fire mat at some point, but authorities have not recovered any of those items.
Other missing evidence includes Celeste’s and D4vd’s cell phones, Celeste’s purse, and security footage from D4vd’s Hollywood Hills home. Prosecutors said the footage from April 23, 2025, between 10:10 p.m. and 10:31 p.m. could be significant because they believe Celeste was killed during that time.
Despite the missing items, prosecutors said they have gathered other evidence they believe connects D4vd to the case. That evidence includes text messages between D4vd and Celeste, along with photos of the 14-year-old’s remains.
Authorities said the missing evidence could help answer important questions about what happened before and after Celeste’s death. However, investigators only took over the case months after the alleged murder, when Celeste’s remains were discovered, making it more difficult to locate certain items.
Prosecutors previously accused D4vd of bringing Celeste to his home, killing her, dismembering her body, and placing her remains in two bags that were later found inside his Tesla. He faces charges of murder, continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14, and unlawful mutilation of human remains.
A judge ruled that prosecutors presented enough evidence for the case to move forward to trial. D4vd has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
