Two Sisters Launch Pop-Up Museum That Puts Women on Display in a Fun and Instagrammable Way

Womanish experience finally opens after a 6-month delay

Chicago, IL — Founders Danyelle & Dionna Gray have finally put their finishing touches on their new and improved Womanish pop-up experience in downtown Chicago. Their exhibit features 16 installations from various different artists. The highly anticipated experience was scheduled to open its doors in Spring 2020 but was postponed due to COVID 19. However, now, Dionna & Danyelle have successfully launched a safe place for women to feel, be heard, be celebrated, and be seen. They have created a 5 floor, 40,000 sq. ft dreamland of celebration for women. Highlighting important topics to them like black girl magic, and mental health; they’ve created a first of its kind experience.

According to Forbes, “They see Womanish as more than an exhibition. To them, it is a cultural movement.” On Thursday, September 3rd, Womanish opened its doors to the public following specific COVID-19 guidelines to ensure a safe and culturally energetic experience. Located in the heart of downtown Chicago on 114 S. State Street, it is not just another pop-up. Womanish is an exploration of identity and perspectives of women and a movement that creates progressive visual and physical experiences for all to explore, contemplate, and share.

Tickets are now on sale at WeAreWomanish.com. Attendees can expect to enter into a ticketed exhibition composed of multiple exploratory room activations; in a space imagined and built by The concepts are produced as large room activations, intimate installation experiences, pathways, transitions, all with curated by amazing artists.

About Danyelle Gray
Danyelle Gray began her love affair with event planning nearly a decade ago while a student at the University of Missouri. While at Mizzou, she helmed the university’s Department of Student Activities where she was responsible for the planning and execution of large-scale campus events. In 2014, Danyelle graduated from Mizzou with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing and a Bachelors of Arts degree in Communication with an emphasis in Organizational. Her extensive education and knowledge quickly earned her high-level marketing positions in top Fortune 100 and 500 companies such as H&R Block, Viacom, and CBS Radio. As co-founder of Womanish, Danyelle leads the charge as Head of Operations where she manages marketing campaigns for the movement that includes the ongoing popular panel series “Discover Your Ish” and the heavily buzzed-about Womanish exhibit among others. Even more incredible is the fact that Danyelle manages to juggle her passion for Womanish while holding down her day job as a marketing manager at a popular beverage company. Outside of her hectic work and business life, Danyelle is an avid animal lover, family-girl at heart, and a strong believer in women empowerment. She, along with her sister, Dionna, and six of their girlfriends host an entertaining and informative podcast called Girl Do Better. In her spare time, Danyelle is also devoted to giving back to her community by volunteering at organizations such as N. Finite Hands and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

About Dionna Gray
After graduating from Florida International University with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Dionna Gray soon went to work as a Marketing Account Manager at CBS. During her time there she was responsible for developing and executing large-scale marketing campaigns for a number of major brands including T-Mobile, Audi and the Bahamas. Dionna continuously helped her clients reach their goals and objectives by utilizing CBS assets such as digital, events and radio. Today, Dionna is a Marketing Manager for Guaranteed Rate where she manages their marketing efforts along the west coast. As co-founder of Womanish, one of Dionna’s main responsibilities is making sure the mission is always at the forefront of partnerships, events and marketing. Her newest focus within the brand is spearheading their relief fund aimed at helping women-owned businesses in Chicago stay afloat during this turbulent time. Her ultimate goal for Womanish is to help create a community that will support and motivate young women to reach their potential and follow their dreams. Dionna’s tireless dedication to the empowerment of women around the world also plays a big part in the podcast that she shares with her sister, Danyelle, and six friends called Girl Do Better. On the podcast (iTunes, Spotify, iHeartRadio), the ladies share their stories about navigating life as women in the hopes that their journeys will help other women find strength and courage. In addition to her work and organizational passions, Dionna is an avid fan of the arts such as her favorite, ballet, spending time with family and friends, and of course, her beloved Maltese/Shih Tzu named Teddy Bear. She also makes a point to set aside time to volunteer for her church in Naperville where she can often be found feeding the homeless and mentoring at-risk youth.
