Man Allegedly Stole 438 Tires Worth Nearly $90K From a Tire Shop Where He Worked

Nationwide — Darren Manson, a man from Atlanta, Georgia, is accused of stealing hundreds of tires from the Mavis Tires and Brakes store where he worked. Authorities say he and store manager Paul Helton allegedly took 438 tires valued at nearly $90,000.

According to WSB-TV, court records show that Manson and Helton allegedly carried out the thefts between June 5 and July 11. Investigators estimate the tires taken from the Cobb County location were worth about $89,579.

The arrest warrant states that Helton allowed Manson to enter the Mavis Tires store on Chastain Meadows Parkway after business hours. Manson allegedly loaded tires into a truck during several visits while Helton helped provide access to the building.

Investigators said surveillance footage captured the truck involved in the alleged thefts. They also used Flock Safety cameras to track the vehicle’s movements during the investigation.

Manson is no longer employed at the Mavis Tires location where the tires were allegedly stolen. Authorities arrested him, and he remains at the Cobb County Jail without bond.

Helton was also named in the arrest warrant for his alleged role in the theft, but his name was not listed in jail records yet.
