Diddy’s Fellow Inmates Applauded His Verdict, “We’ve Never Seen Anyone Beat the Government”

Nationwide — Sean “Diddy” Combs received a standing ovation from fellow inmates after he was acquitted of the most serious charges in his trial. Although found guilty on lesser counts, the verdict was viewed inside the prison as a rare legal victory.

On July 2, the 55-year-old music mogul avoided a potential life sentence when he was cleared of the most serious charges in a high-profile federal trial. His attorney, Marc Agnifilo, said the acquittal gave hope to other inmates.

“They all said, ‘We never get to see anyone who beats the government,'” Agnifilo said, according to People.

He also shared that the rapper is holding up mentally and emotionally. Combs acknowledges his personal flaws, understanding that fame and money cannot hide them.

While he avoided the major charges, Combs was convicted on two counts of transportation for prostitution. He could face up to 20 years if sentenced for both counts consecutively. He remains at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center and will stay there until his sentencing, expected by October.

The trial began in May and lasted several weeks. Prosecutors presented testimony from 34 witnesses, including Combs’ former partner Cassie Ventura. They accused him of forcing her into sex acts known as “freak offs,” but Combs’ lawyers argued all encounters were consensual and supported that with text messages and other exhibits.

Even with the partial acquittal, Combs still faces several civil lawsuits that allege sexual misconduct.
