27-Year Old Woman With HIV Says Doctors Told Her She Would Not Live Past Age 12

Kenya — Doreen Moraa was only 8-years old when doctors said she only had less than 4 years to live. Now at 27-years old, she has been living with HIV for almost 20 years!“2020 marks exactly 20 years since I was diagnosed with HIV. I was 8 years old when my parents were told I was HIV positive. Pensive face doctors gave me up to my 12th birthday. This August I’m looking forward to my 28th birthday. God is not done with me yet,” she wrote on Twitter.

She also posted pictures of her when she was a young girl who was told by doctors that couldn’t live past age 12.

Now, Moraa is a proud HIV positive advocate and she shares her stories through social media as well as her YouTube channel which so far has more than 3,000 subscribers.

Many people are praising her for her courage and not letting the stigma affect her.

“You are story worth reading everyday @D_Moraa . I celebrate you & many other brave people who are living with #HIV . You are shooting for the stars. Fire up girl,” one said.

“Keep on going and telling all the positive vibes that will inspire generations. Your inspiration defeats Stigma and gives hope to all HIV positive but also shines a light to all young people to live a responsible life,” another wrote.
