Nationwide — Elijah Muhammad, a 13-year-old African American student from Oklahoma City, once again makes history as the youngest Black student to graduate college. This year alone, he earned not one, but four diplomas.
Most recently, Elijah made more history as he became the youngest African American to graduate college with a degree in computer science and cybersecurity, his family told WAFB. He graduate from Oklahoma State University.
“At first, I didn’t really understand the full impact of it until my dad fully explained it and was like, ‘You’re really doing this, you’re the youngest to ever do it,'” Elijah said.
Aside from the 4 diplomas he got, Elijah is also proud of having 10 IBM certifications and 1 Google IT certification. Despite all his extraordinary goals and achievements, Elijah said he still enjoys his teenage years.
“I currently attend OSU and am working on my bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity and forensics. I also attend Langston with a 4.0,” Elijah said. “As much accomplishments as I have, I still go swimming, go outside, play basketball, and still have fun and stuff.”
His family is beyond proud of what he has so far achieved and what’s more to come.
“He is the smartest person I know. And regardless of if you’re older or not, it’s like I’ve never seen nothing like him,” his sister Shania Muhammad, who also recently graduated college at the age of 15.
