72-Year-Old Black Grandmother From Atlanta Wins Two Medals in Her 1st Bodybuilder Competition

Evelyn Foulkner

Nationwide — Evelyn Foulkner, a 72-year-old African American grandmother from Atlanta, participated in a bodybuilding competition for the first time, bringing home 2 medals and impressing everyone with her performance.

Even though competitive bodybuilding wasn’t on her bucket list initially, Foulkner decided to push her limits and take on this new challenge.

“I decided I needed to take it to another level and challenge myself,” Foulkner told Fox 5 Atlanta.

Evelyn, a regular at the gym for years, started preparing for the competition 6 months ago. She focused on strengthening her weaker muscles and followed a high-protein diet with some cheat meals.

Most recently, she competed in the bikini category of the Super Natural Body Federation Bodybuilding and Fitness competition in Lawrenceville. Her dedication paid off as she secured third place in both the novice and masters divisions.

Her family cheered her on and noted that she was a crowd favorite. After the event, many people lined up to take photos with her, expressing how much she inspired them.
