Floyd Mayweather Sues Showtime Over $340M in Missing Fight Payouts

Nationwide — Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. is suing Showtime for $340 million, claiming the network and its executives helped divert his earnings. He alleges hidden accounts and unauthorized transactions cost him a large portion of his career pay.

The 48-year-old filed the lawsuit Tuesday, accusing Showtime and executive Stephen Espinoza of aiding his former manager, Al Haymon, in a “complex scheme of financial fraud.” Mayweather says the network failed to provide transparency while routing millions from his fight purses.

According to ESPN, the lawsuit states Mayweather is owed at least $340 million. He points to hidden accounts, unauthorized transactions, and deliberately concealed financial records as evidence that he was shortchanged despite earning more than $1.2 billion over his career.

Mayweather’s deal with Showtime, signed in 2013, was one of the richest contracts for a single athlete at the time. He fought six major bouts on the network, including his record-breaking fight with Manny Pacquiao, which generated over $410 million from pay-per-view sales alone.

The boxer claims Showtime and Espinoza worked together to channel his earnings into accounts controlled by Haymon, leaving him financially harmed despite his massive career income. Haymon is not named as a defendant in the lawsuit.

Though retired since 2017 with a perfect 50-0 record, Mayweather has remained active in exhibition bouts. A fight with Mike Tyson was announced last year, and reports suggest he may face kickboxer Mike Zambidis in Greece this June, though no official date has been set.
