Former Prison Guard Sentenced to 224 Years for Raping Female Inmates

Nationwide — Gregory Rodriguez, a former correctional officer at the Central California Women’s Facility in Chowchilla, was sentenced to 224 years in prison for sexually assaulting inmates. The ruling followed testimony from several women who shared how he abused them.

According to ABC30, Rodriguez faced trial after nine women accused him of repeated assaults during his time working at the facility. Last month, some of the victims spoke in court, describing the abuse they endured while behind bars.

The case ended with a conviction on more than 60 counts of sexual assault. Prosecutors said Rodriguez used his position of power to target women who were already vulnerable in custody.

During sentencing, two more victims addressed the court. Rodriguez’s defense attorneys tried to dismiss the testimony, calling the women’s accounts “stories.” The jury, however, sided with the victims and found him guilty.

The judge imposed the maximum sentence allowed under the law, which is 224 years in prison. The punishment ensures Rodriguez will remain behind bars for the rest of his life.
