NationwideGyrls in the H.O.O.D Foundation is excited to announce the adolescent Let It Flow Fest, an innovative and impactful event designed to raise awareness about period poverty, normalize conversations about menstruation, and provide essential menstrual products to girls in need. The festival will take place on August 31st in Chicago.

The Let It Flow Festival will feature a range of engaging activities, including interactive booths, hands-on art workshops, and live entertainment. A highlight of the event will be the “Ask the Doctor” session hosted by Dr. Bako, a respected pediatric doctor from Lurie Children’s Hospital. Dr. Bako will be available to answer participants’ questions about menstrual health, offering expert advice and education to help young girls take control of their health with confidence.

Event Highlights:

• Interactive Booths: H.O.O.D Trivia, Art stations, and healthcare information.
• Ask the Doctor Session: A unique opportunity to learn from Dr. Bako, a specialist in pediatric care.
• Workshops and Activities: Engaging and informative sessions on menstrual health and wellness.
• Live Entertainment: Each participant will receive free period products, hygiene supplies, and underwear.

“Girls in the hood deserve to experience their periods with dignity,” said Chez Smith, Founder of Gyrls In The H.O.O.D Foundation. “The Let It Flow Fest is more than just an event; It’s our way of fighting stigma and creating a supportive community where menstrual health is normalized and every girl has access to the products she needs heading back to school. Director of Programs, Venisha Bonds encourages parents to come out and get involved as well, “If you’re a parent who has a hard time talking to your child about reproductive health, this is the perfect event for you.”
