West Palm Beach, FL β The Haitian American Nursing Organization & Allied (HANOA) of West Palm Beach is excited to announce that it will host a multicultural educational and health fair on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Glades Community Central High School in Belle Glade, Florida. Anticipating more than 1,000 health fair visitors, HANOA is putting out a call for medical and other healthcare professionals to volunteer. HANOA vice president and driver of the event, Louise Lorraine Voltaire RN stated, βOn behalf of HANOA, I am inviting doctors, nurses, psychologists, nutritionists and other healthcare professionals to volunteer a few hours to share their expertise with people and give back to a community in need.βDuring the free day-long event, medical and healthcare professionals will provide educational information about nutrition, diet & exercise, childhood obesity, HIV/AIDS, mental health and common chronic illnesses such as diabetes, heart disease, respiratory disorders, depression, dementia, breast cancer and more. The fair will also offer complimentary health screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar, BMI, and mammography.

The Haitian American Nursing Organization & Allied, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was established in 2010 to provide nurses the opportunity to unite as a group; to share and provide ideas of interest; and to become effectively involved with the issues and services relevant to the health and welfare of communities in Florida. HANOA fosters awareness and commitment to providing excellent nursing services. Additionally, the organization strives to increase the enrollment of Haitian nursing students through education and mentoring opportunities, as well as, creating community-networking opportunities for its members. HANOA goal is to provide scholarships for students enrolled in nursing schools in Florida and Haiti; and provide health education on High blood pressure, Diabetic management, Childhood Obesity, Immunization drives, Educational programs on HIV/AIDS, as well as other health concerns.
