Man Arrested Twice Within 24 Hours for Attacking the Same Woman Twice

Nationwide — James Bowman III, a 40-year-old African American man from Waldorf, Maryland, was arrested twice in less than 24 hours after attacking the same woman. Police say he assaulted her again just hours after being released from jail on domestic violence charges.

Around 1 a.m. on November 8, officers were called to a home on Drake Court in Waldorf for a domestic assault. Inside, they found a woman holding a toddler, bleeding and visibly injured. Police de-escalated the scene and quickly learned the attacker was the same man arrested for assaulting her earlier that night.

According to Fox 5 DC, Bowman had been taken into custody on November 7 for punching the woman in the face and biting her hand during a domestic dispute. He was charged and later released from the Charles County Detention Center on personal recognizance, with a condition not to harm the victim.

Within an hour of leaving jail, Bowman returned to the woman’s home. Police said he assaulted her again while she was holding her toddler. The woman locked herself in a bedroom and called 911, but Bowman forced the door open and continued attacking her.

During the struggle, Bowman struck the child in the forehead. Emergency responders treated both the woman and the toddler for their injuries. Officers arrested Bowman at the scene and charged him with assault and child abuse.

A district court commissioner ordered him held without bond. Two days later, on November 10, a judge ruled that Bowman remain in custody without bond as the investigation continues.
