Fake Pastor Caught Smuggling Drugs into a Jail By Hiding Them in a Bible

Laurinburg, NC — James A. Morman III, a 28-year old man from North Carolina, reportedly disguised himself as a pastor and tried to smuggle drugs into jail. Morman was caught when the authorities searched him during a prison visit and found that the Bible he brought has stuffed illegal drugs inside. On December 31, Morman visited the Scotland County Detention Facility pretending as a pastor carrying a Bible. Investigators were alerted due to suspicions of drug smuggling into the facility so they conducted an undercover operation.

Upon searching Morman, authorities found that the Bible he brought to prison was filled inside with Suboxone strips, a drug used to treat opioid addiction. Authorities also believe he delivered drugs to inmate Bryson Brown.

After busting him, authorities conducted a sweep of the whole detention facility. There, they found even more illegal substances and contraband.

In connection to the operation, Morman and Brown have been charged with felony possession of a controlled substance within a prison or detention facility and felony delivery of a controlled substance to an inmate. Additional charges are expected.
