Nationwide — Jauan Rashun Porter, who is from Atlanta, Georgia, has been sentenced to more than three years in federal prison after threatening to assassinate President Donald Trump during a TikTok livestream. The threats triggered a multi-agency investigation that later uncovered ammunition and explosive materials in his apartment.
Federal prosecutors said Porter, 30, made the threats last July while appearing on a TikTok livestream titled “Alligator Alcatraz,” as reported by Atlanta News First. During the live broadcast, he made several violent statements aimed directly at Trump.
At one point, Porter said, “So there’s only one way to make America great, and that is putting a bullet in between Trump’s eyes.” He continued moments later, adding, “I’m gonna kill Donald Trump. I’m gonna put a 7.62 bullet inside his forehead.”
The threats escalated as the livestream continued. Porter said, “I’m gonna watch him bleed out, and I’m gonna watch him die… I’m gonna do that.” He also claimed the act would happen publicly, adding, “It’ll be on the news… his rally is coming up pretty soon, and I’m going there, and I’m going to put a bullet in his head.”
In another statement, Porter described a specific plan, saying, “I’mma load up a rifle [and] sit inside… an abandoned building… and when he approaches the rally… I’m gonna put one… if not the face then… in his chest.” When asked about law enforcement showing up, he responded, “I’m gonna kill them too.”
Following the livestream, Secret Service agents, Floyd County police, and Georgia probation officers searched Porter’s apartment. Authorities found two pipes, pistol ammunition, and Tannerite, an explosive target material, but did not recover a firearm.
Prosecutors said Porter had several prior convictions and was on probation at the time of the threats. He was charged with making threats against the president.
Porter pleaded guilty in October to one count of transmitting interstate threats. A judge sentenced him to three years and five months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
