Inmate on Death Row Convicted of Raping, Killing 5-Year-Old Girl Requests Speedy Execution

Nationwide — Jeremy Williams, a man from Phenix City, Alabama, has asked the state to carry out his death sentence after his conviction in a child murder case. He is now seeking to speed up the execution process after the courts upheld both his conviction and sentence. His request could place him ahead of other inmates on Alabama’s execution schedule.

Williams was convicted of raping and killing 5-year-old Kamarie Holland in December 2021. Investigators later discovered her body in a basement in Phenix City with a rope around her neck. The case led to one of Alabama’s most serious capital murder convictions in recent years.

According to WLBT, the Alabama Court of Appeals has upheld both Williams’ conviction and his death sentence. With that decision, he has exhausted his appeals at the state level.

After the appeals process ended, Williams dismissed his legal team and submitted a personal request for a faster execution. Russell County District Attorney Rick Chancey said the request places Williams ahead of other death row inmates, including some who have been waiting for decades.

Officials said the execution timeline still depends on scheduling and final administrative steps. The process could take up to three weeks before a date is officially set.
