Nationwide — Jessica Wilson, a 29-year-old mom from Alachua County, Florida, allegedly assaulted her 2-year-old daughter at their home. The toddler suffered critical injuries and later died after several days of hospital treatment.
According to Fox 19, Alachua County deputies responded Thursday after reports of an unresponsive 2-year-old girl at a residence. When they arrived, they secured the scene and began speaking with the people present.
A witness told deputies that Wilson and her daughter had been staying at the home for about two weeks. On Thursday night, Wilson allegedly woke the witness, handed over the unresponsive child, and the witness immediately started CPR.
Emergency responders transported the toddler to the hospital, where medical staff documented severe injuries, including skull fractures and bruising across the head, chest, and back. The child remained under intensive care for three days before she died.
Investigators said Wilson later admitted during questioning that she hit the child with a belt, punched her, and stomped on her back. She also said she did that because the toddler was not listening, admitting that she went too far.
Authorities charged Wilson with second-degree murder. She was booked into the Alachua County Jail and remains held without bond.
