Man Arrested for Murdering Someone Goes Viral for His Good Looks

Justin Scott Waters

Nationwide — Justin Scott Waters, a 33-year-old African American man from Stone Mountain, Georgia, was charged with murder after a street fight left Taha Ibrahim Tahanur dead. His arrest later caught attention online when his mugshot went viral for his looks.

Deputies said they tracked Waters to Decatur and arrested him for felony murder tied to an incident on Dunleith Court on November 17, according to 11Alive. The situation began when Waters saw three men in the street who appeared to be play fighting. A witness told police that someone in the group had been hit, and another person shared that detail with Waters.

Investigators said Waters walked over to confront Tahanur after hearing the story. A witness reported that Waters slammed him onto the pavement and punched him repeatedly until he was covered in blood. Waters then pulled Tahanur into the passenger seat of a car, assuming he had only lost consciousness.

According to the warrant, Waters went inside his apartment for about an hour before checking on him again. When he returned to the car, he realized Tahanur had no pulse. Emergency services were contacted, but Tahanur could not be revived.

Tahanur’s sister, Iman, described him as gifted, driven, and the smartest person she knew. She shared her heartbreak and called the situation devastating for their family.

Deputies booked Waters into the DeKalb County Jail without bond. Authorities also arrested Abel Mehari and charged him with murder for his involvement in the fatal confrontation.
