Nationwide — Kayla Solomon, a 29-year-old local TV reporter in Memphis, Tennessee, was arrested days after a weekend crash that killed a motorcyclist. Police said she was making a U-turn when her vehicle collided with the motorcycle.
The crash occurred on Saturday night on Central Avenue, near Lindsay Street, in Midtown. Solomon, who was off duty and driving her personal car, turned onto the street as a motorcycle approached in the same direction, according to FOX13.
The rider, identified as 36-year-old William Scanlan, was rushed to the hospital after the collision. Doctors later confirmed he died from his injuries.
On Tuesday morning, Solomon surrendered at Jail East. She now faces three misdemeanor charges: failure to yield right of way causing death, failure to exercise due care, and making a U-turn on a curve or hill.
Police said the investigation is ongoing. FOX13 confirmed that Solomon works as an investigative reporter but was not on assignment at the time of the crash.
