Man in Prison For Killing Michael Jordan’s Dad Up for Parole

Raleigh, NC — Larry Demery, one of the two men who were convicted for the 1993 murder of basketball icon Michael Jordan’s father, is reportedly being considered for parole even though he was sentenced to life in prison.Demery, who is now 44-years old, is being considered through the Mutual Agreement Parole Program, according to North Carolina Post-Release Supervision and Parole Commission.

The results of the investigation regarding his eligibility for parole and the facts of the case will be reviewed by the commission before making a decision.

If ever Demery is considered eligible for parole, the program will then prepare for his release “through structured activities, scheduled progression in custody levels, participation in community-based programs and established parole dates.”

Demery, with another suspect Daniel Andre Green, was convicted of shooting and killing James Jordan while he was sleeping inside his car in July 1993. They disposed of Jordan’s body through a bridge in a South Carolina swamp, where it was recovered 11 days later.

The two were both convicted of 1st-degree murder and armed robbery in 1996 and both sentenced to life in prison. It has yet been known if Green is also considered for parole.
