
Nationwide — A crossing guard in Darby, Pennsylvania, was knocked unconscious after a man attacked him while he was helping children cross the street outside an elementary school. The suspect chased the guard, struck him, and then fled the scene.
According to WGAL, the incident happened around 3:50 p.m. Monday near South Sixth and Walnut streets, just outside Walnut Street Elementary School. Surveillance footage shows the suspect chasing the guard and landing a punch that sent him falling into the road.
The crossing guard was rushed to a hospital and is now recovering at home. Authorities say the suspect is still on the run, and an investigation is ongoing.
Local police are asking anyone with information to come forward and share a contact email for tips. “We are exhausting all available resources to identify the individual responsible,” they said.
Police described the attack as shocking and dangerous, emphasizing the guard’s role in keeping children and neighbors safe. Investigators continue reviewing leads and footage to bring the suspect to justice.
