Miami, FL — Marcus Sakers, a 32-year old man from Miami, was arrested on Monday after police said he shot and killed his own father during a fight – ironically on Father’s Day. Sakers is now facing a charge of second-degree murder.Eyewitnesses said Sakers and his 60-year old father, Fedel Peake, got into an argument that turned into a physical fight wherein they both fell to the ground. Some witnesses tried to intervene until they heard several gunshots.
According to an arrest report, Peake rolled over after being shot. He said, “You shot me” before losing consciousness. The victim was rushed to the Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.
Sakers, who fled after the shooting, was found the next day outside a home on Northwest Second Avenue. Sakers was positively identified as the shooter by the witnesses.
He is now being held without bond into jail. Moreover, court records at Miami-Dade County show that Peake filed a restraining order against his son back in 2014.
