Well-Respected African-American Psychotherapist Celebrates 11 Years as Owner of Her Own Private Practice

Mary Lisa Moore, LPCS, LPC, MS

Charlotte, NC — African-American psychotherapist, Mary Lisa Moore, is celebrating 11 years as a minority woman-owned business since establishing her private practice in 2006.Humble Beginnings

At the young age of 12, Lisa inspired by popular local Black-owned businesses like Burgess, Suburban Mart and Colvin Funeral Home – that seemed to thrive despite the harsh realities of the communities they served – made the commitment that she too would own a business and support the community. The valuable experience earned while employed as a docent and summer tour guide for the Afro-American Historical and Cultural Museum in Philadelphia and later as a MBRS (Minority Biomedical Research Support) college student only fueled her desire to one day be self-employed.

Educational Background

A proud Aggie, Lisa graduated from North Carolina A&T State University with a B.A. in Psychology (1994) and a M.S. in Agency Counseling (1997) respectively. Nearly a decade later Moore Professional Counseling opened in Fayetteville, NC and quickly expanded to Greensboro and Charlotte, NC.

Current and Past Professional Affiliations Include:

* Member of NAACP
* Mecklenburg County Youth Network Empowerment Team (YNET) Provider
* Served on Advisory Board Member of the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) April 2012- June 2014
