Nationwide — Meet identical twin sisters, Mya and Madison Glover from Toledo, Ohio who are celebrating having been named their high school’s valedictorian and salutatorian this year. Both of them will be graduating from high school with two years of college credits. From the day they were born, the duo said they enjoy getting into friendly competitions between them, including who was born first. They have since brought their A-game to their school, making them both excel without the rivalry.
“The values that my parents instilled in me as well as my belief that education is the foundation of success, because in the classroom, you learn a lot of skills dedication discipline, so just knowing that I can take advantage of that to be more successful in my future, that’s what motivated me,” Madison told their local news network WTVG.
Mya is the valedictorian and Madison is the salutatorian for the Class of 2023 at Toledo Early College High School. Both of them earned a 3.9 GPA with only a difference of just a few decimals.
Mya and Madison are set to receive their associate degrees even earlier than their high school graduation. Since both of them are members of Toledo Excel, they have earned 2 years’ worth of college credit courses, completing their prerequisites in advance.
The twins have so far been offered scholarships to attend the University of Toledo. Mya plans to major in marketing while Madison plans to pursue a career in nursing.
Moreover, they said staying focused and running your own race are the key to having such success.
“Once you start looking at what others are doing, you’re starting to backtrack and kind of follow that, but just looking ahead and looking to see what you can do for yourself,” Mya Glover said.
