Nationwide — Nicki Minaj has been floated as a possible replacement for the White House press secretary after two allies of President Donald Trump publicly suggested she could fill the role. The speculation followed a video of the rapper praising Trump during a conversation aboard Air Force One, though no formal offer has been confirmed.
White House communications director Steven Cheung shared the video on X and said, “Ladies and gentlemen, I think we may have found the new White House Press Secretary!” Trump adviser Alex Bruesewitz also weighed in, asking Minaj’s fans, known as the Barbz, what they thought of the idea. The White House’s official account joined the exchange with an eyeballs emoji, as reported by TMZ.
In the clip, Cheung asks Minaj about Trump’s leadership and the economy. She describes the president as a natural businessman, says nobody works harder than him, and claims he won three elections. The exchange ends with the rapper looking toward the camera and laughing as Cheung begins to speak.
The suggestion comes as the White House press secretary position faces another transition. Katie Zacharia reportedly resigned after a rocky first appearance, leaving the administration looking for a replacement. Karoline Leavitt previously held the position before leaving in August for family reasons. Zacharia’s brief stint followed Leavitt’s departure, creating another opening in the White House communications team.
Minaj responded to the suggestion on social media with an American flag emoji and a grinning face with sweat emoji. However, she did not confirm whether she would consider the position. It also remains unclear whether the two Trump allies were seriously proposing her for the job or simply joking about the possibility.
Meanwhile, the rapper shared a separate video showing the spacious interior of Air Force One, highlighting her experience aboard the presidential aircraft. She also appeared with Trump at a rally in Port Huron, Michigan, supporting Republican Senate nominee Mike Rogers. Her public support for the president has grown over the past year, but the social media exchange has not established that she is officially being considered for the press secretary position.
