Police Use AI Facial Recognition to Identify Women Caught Twerking on Police Car

Black women twerking on police car identified

Nationwide — Police in Richmond Heights, Ohio, used facial recognition to identify and find women caught on camera twerking and dancing on a police car. The incident left visible damage to the vehicle, and officers have now issued arrest warrants for two of the women.

Dashcam footage showed three women dancing on the police cruiser. One climbed onto the push bumper while another danced on the hood. The police said the dancing left dents and scratches on the car.

“There is a small dent and a little crease here. We didn’t decide to fix that at this time. There was a pretty significant scratch that was about, probably from here to here,“ police said, according to Atlanta News First.

To identify the suspects, Richmond Heights Police worked with the Northeast Ohio Regional Fusion Center. Investigators used Clearview AI, a facial recognition tool that scans social media and other databases to find matches. The software helped match the faces in the video to online profiles.

So far, police have identified two of the three women and issued arrest warrants for them. Authorities have not released the names of the women or details about possible charges.
