Nationwide — President Donald Trump has threatened jail time for a journalist after a report on a U.S. military rescue mission involving a fighter jet crash in Iran. He has demanded the reporter to reveal their source, warning of possible charges if they refused.
According to TMZ, the report centered on a U.S. military operation where forces located and rescued two service members after their F-15E Strike Eagle crashed in Iran. Officials said the incident involved hundreds of personnel working on the recovery effort.
At a press conference on Monday, Trump did not directly name the journalist involved. However, his remarks were widely understood as targeting Axios reporter Barak Ravid, who is from Israel. Trump pressed for the identity of the source behind the story.
Trump said the reporting placed the rescue operation at risk. He claimed that releasing details could have endangered both the two service members and the large team involved in the mission.
This latest move is part of Trump’s ongoing clashes with the media. He has repeatedly accused news outlets of jeopardizing operations and spreading leaks during the Iran conflict.
