School Counselor Found Dead After Arrest Warrant Over Inappropriate Messages to Minor

Quinton Dixon

Nationwide — Quinton Dixon, an African American man from Baton Rouge who worked as a counselor at Westdale Middle Magnet School, was found dead on a former school campus. His death happened the same day an arrest warrant was issued for him for sending inappropriate messages to a minor.

Police discovered Dixon’s body in an unused building on the old school grounds, according to WBRZ. Baton Rouge officers said they believe he took his own life, though the exact cause of death is still under investigation.

Dixon had been placed on administrative leave about two weeks ago after the allegations first came to light. Court records show the warrant filed Wednesday charged him with four counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile.

According to the documents, Dixon sent several Instagram messages to a 14-year-old girl between early November and early January. In the messages, he repeatedly called her attractive and offered rides home from school.

People in the community expressed shock at the news. Redell Norman, who attended Glen Oaks and coached football with Dixon, called the situation “unfortunate” and urged prayers for everyone affected.

A spokesperson for the East Baton Rouge Parish School System said, “We extend our condolences to the school community, family, and loved ones as they process this information during this difficult time.”
