NYC Hospital Worker Says He Survived Coronavirus and is Now Back to Work

New York, NY — Raeburn Fairweather, a 47-year old hospital worker who was infected with COVID-19, has shared his experience in how he was able to survive the virus for two weeks. He says that he took all natural remedies that he learned growing up in Jamaica.Fairweather, who works as a respiratory therapist at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, started showing symptoms after working a triple shift “inserting and removing ventilator tubes from the tracheas of coronavirus patients,” according to New York Post.

He had severe headaches, body aches, and fever. He was also unable to smell and taste and he coughed up “thick, white mucus.”

Since then, Fairweather quarantined himself in another room in their home to prevent infecting his wife and 5 children.

At first, he used Tylenol but he said that it “would not bring it down. My body felt like it was falling apart. Headaches were immense. They were making my eyeballs feel like they were on springs.”

Being a Jamaican native, Fairweather decided to take “Caribbean home remedies made with turmeric, garlic, and ginger.” With that, he successfully fought the virus.

A few days after being cleared of COVID-19, Fairweather is back to work but now with extra precaution and protective gear to avoid getting infected.

“I love my job, and I was very bored at home,” he said.
