Rapper Lil Durk Linked to Yet Another Murder-for-Hire Case, That’s Two Cases in Two Months

Lil Durk

Nationwide — Lil Durk, a rapper from Chicago who has appeared on songs with Drake another well-known rappers, is now linked to a second murder-for-hire plot, according to newly-unsealed court documents. This case is tied to the 2022 murder of Stephon Mack, who was shot outside the Youth Peace Center of Roseland.

Two men, Anthony Montgomery-Wilson and Preston Powell, were indicted over Mack’s death last year. Durk has not been charged with Mack’s murder.

However, the FBI connected Durk to the case through their texts, social media posts, and phone call data, including one message that asked, “Did Durk give U that money?” Authorities believe Mack’s murder was a revenge killing for Durk’s brother.

Mack was shot on January 7, 2022, by gunmen who attacked him outside the center. A security guard was also shot but survived his injuries.

In another murder-for-hire case, Durk faces charges in connection to a failed shooting attempt on rapper Quando Rondo in Los Angeles on August 18, 2022. The shooter instead shot and killed Rondo’s cousin, Saviay’a Robinson.

Authorities say this plot was in retaliation for the death of OTF rapper King Von, who was killed in Atlanta. Investigators claim Durk offered a “bounty” to anyone who killed Rondo, whose real name is Tyquian Bowman.

Durk, whose full name is Durk Devontay Banks, has pleaded not guilty and is currently seeking bond for his release.
