Rapper Mia X now a doctor

Nationwide Rapper Mia X, known as the ‘Mother of Southern Rap,’ has been awarded an honorary Doctorate of Philosophy in Humanitarianism. The award, signed by former President Joe Biden, recognizes her contributions to humanitarian work, philanthropy, and community service.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Mia, dressed in her cap and gown, shared, “I pray my parents and grandparents are proud and smiling from heaven.”

Mia X rose to fame in the 1990s as the first lady of Master P’s No Limit Records, where she delivered gold albums, sold-out concerts, and collaborated with top artists like Snoop Dogg. Beyond her success in music, Mia has become a powerful advocate for humanitarian work, earning praise for her dedication to community service.

Her journey began in the late ’80s and early ’90s when she performed with Mannie Fresh in a mobile entertainment service. She made her recording debut in 1992 with the single Ask Them Suckas and later signed with Emoja Records, releasing her debut album Mommie Dearest in 1995.

In the 2010s, Mia battled with uterine cancer and suffered complications during surgery which left her with 73% vision in one eye. Despite these challenges, she continues to inspire with her strength and dedication to both music and humanitarian causes.
