Nationwide — NFL star Ray Rice has issued his first public statement after a recent video surfaced on TMZ showing him knocking out his wife in an elevator, and then having to drag her body outside as she laid unconscious.
He added that he and his wife plan to “work through” the situation, that they are in “good spirits”, and will continue to “support each other.”
His statement was released just hours after his wife Janay Rice made her first public comments on Instagram where she said, “THIS IS OUR LIFE! What don’t you all get. If your intentions were to hurt us, embarrass us, make us feel alone, take all happiness away, you’ve succeeded on so many levels. Just know we will continue to grow & show the world what real love is! Ravensnation we love you!”
After the video surfaced and created a national uproar about domestic violence, Rice, who is 27-years old, was cut by the Baltimore Ravens and indefinitely suspended by the NFL.
Meanwhile, the public is putting pressure on NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to resign. He has been accused of knowing about the video beforehand, and not taking disciplinary action against the football star.
