Nationwide — Pastors, faith leaders, parents, grandparents, community leaders, educators, elected officials, businesses, and concerned citizens are being called together for a groundbreaking Interfaith Power Breakfast Summit: A Community Cure for Gang & Gun Violence, taking place Thursday, October 22, 2026, at Rochdale Village’s Grand Ballroom in Queens, New York. Hosted by the Southeast Queens Chamber of Commerce (SEQCOC), an organization committed to community empowerment, the summit will bring together people from across Southeast Queens and beyond around one urgent mission: protecting our youth and mobilizing the entire community to address gang and gun violence.
The gathering comes amid continuing concern about fatal shootings affecting Black teenagers and the devastating impact that gun violence has on families and neighborhoods. The Power Breakfast will focus on prevention, intervention, healing, mentorship, and coordinated community action. At the center of the summit will be the release and discussion of the new handbook, A Community Cure for Gun Violence, written by Rev. Roxanne Simone Lord-Marcelle, N.D., a pastor, author, and Doctor of Naturopathy, alongside contributor Sir Maliki Stone, a retired NYPD detective and gang investigator.
The handbook presents a community-centered strategy intended to engage families, clergy, educators, law enforcement, businesses, mentors and neighborhood organizations in helping young people avoid gangs, violence and other destructive pathways. Rev. Lord-Marcelle comments, “I wrote this book to help save and protect innocent youth from falling prey to gun violence. It takes a village to raise a child, and the cure to gun violence that I have identified is for the whole community to unite and implement a particular strategy that I have created with insight from my late husband, Pastor Martin Marcelle, who was working to cure gun violence.”
The Interfaith Power Breakfast is designed to move beyond conversation and encourage collaboration. Pastors, community leaders, parents and grandparents, educators, youth advocates, elected officials, law enforcement representatives and business leaders are encouraged to register, attend and become part of this scalable community-wide effort.
One Community. One Mission. Protect Our Youth.
The Southeast Queens Chamber of Commerce believes strong communities are built when institutions and individuals work together. The October 22 summit will provide an opportunity for leaders from different faiths, professions, and neighborhoods to gather around a shared commitment to reducing violence and creating safer, healthier futures for young people.
