Russell Simmons Responds to Ex-Wife Kimora’s Comments About Their Relationship

Nationwide — Record executive and entrepreneur Russell Simmons responded to claims from his ex-wife, Kimora Lee Simmons, that she doesn’t have a relationship with her children’s fathers. He said he has been “fighting” for the love of their kids for years and hinted at ongoing tensions over money and co-parenting.

Kimora, 50, recently told People she doesn’t keep close ties with the fathers of her children. She credited her “village” of friends and family for support and emphasized that she is the primary parent, raising her kids full-time. She also noted that her life doesn’t revolve around men.

Russell, 68, replied on Threads, highlighting financial support and personal sacrifices. “I gave u 50,000 a month for 20 years. I was ur best /only friend. I’m the godfather to your other 3 kids, until one day you stole my stock,” he wrote. He added that he has been “fighting for my kids’ love and my bread ever since” and reminded followers that “there are two sides to every story.”

The couple shares daughters Ming Lee, 25, and Aoki Lee, 23. Kimora also has a son, Kenzo Lee, 16, with actor Djimon Hounsou, and a son, Wolfe Lee, 10, with former banker Tim Leissner. She said her children rely on her, traveling and living in New York, and that she strives to be strong and self-reliant for them.

Their history includes high-profile disputes, including past accusations from Kimora that Russell threatened her daughters and behaved abusively toward women. These public exchanges highlight ongoing tensions in co-parenting and personal differences, even years after their divorce was finalized in 2009.
