Samuel L. Jackson Invites Celebs to Make His “I Can’t Breathe” Song the New Ice Bucket Challenge

Nationwide — Actor Samuel L. Jackson has posted a video online, encouraging his fellow celebrity friends who took the Ice Bucket Challenge to take a new challenge. He wants them to sing his new song that brings attention to the recent cases of Michael Brown and Eric Garner, two unarmed African American men who were killed by police. In a video posted on his Facebook page, Jackson says, “All you celebrities out there who poured ice water on your head, I challenge you to do something else. I challenge you to sing the ‘We ain’t gonna stop, til people are free’ song.”

Here are the lyrics in the song:

I can hear my neighbor cryin’ ‘I can’t breathe’. Now I’m in the struggle and I can’t leave.

Calling out the violence of the racist police. We ain’t gonna stop ’til people are free. We ain’t gonna stop ’til people are free.

After singing the song, Jackson urges viewers, “Come on! Sing it out!” As of early Monday morning, the post had been liked and shared more than 50,000 times.

But Jackson isn’t the only one speaking up. Just last, NBA players Lebron James, Derrick Rose, and Kyrie Irving all wore t-shirts before their games that read “I Can’t Breathe”. When asked about it, they all replied that they wanted to share support for the family of Eric Garner.
