Saquon Barkley Signs $41.2M Contract with Eagles, Becomes Highest-Paid Running Back in NFL

Nationwide — Saquon Barkley has signed a contract extension with the Philadelphia Eagles, making him the highest-paid running back in NFL history. This comes just a year after he joined the team, led them to a Super Bowl victory, and won the NFL Offensive Player of the Year award.According to the Associated Press, Barkley’s new contract is worth $41.2 million, with $36 million guaranteed and up to $15 million in incentives.

Barkley had a historic season, breaking an NFL record for rushing yards in a single season, including the playoffs, with 2,504 yards. This surpassed Terrell Davis’ 1998 record of 2,476 yards. He also set a franchise record with 2,283 yards from scrimmage, contributing 34.8% of the Eagles’ total offense and scoring 15 touchdowns.

Eagles Executive Vice President Howie Roseman called Barkley’s performance “the best season for any skill position player in NFL history.” Head Coach Nick Sirianni praised Barkley for his leadership, work ethic, and teamwork, highlighting his unique abilities, both on and off the field.

Barkley took to Instagram to express his gratitude, writing, “Overflow! Grateful for the Eagles Organization, grateful for my team, grateful for the amazing fans in Philly. Fly Eagles Fly.”
