Nationwide — Sekya Smith, an 18-year-old African American teen from Atlanta, was tragically killed in a drive-by shooting on Christmas Eve while outside at a friend’s house. Her mother, Brittany, is heartbroken and seeking answers.

On Christmas Eve, police responded to the scene on Smith Street SW in Atlanta’s Pittsburgh neighborhood around 6 p.m. and found Sekya dead from a gunshot wound, according to 11Alive.

Sekya, who was a senior at Carver High School, was set to graduate in May. She planned to study criminal justice and play basketball at Albany State University. Sekya was also a talented athlete, excelling in basketball, softball, and track.
