Nationwide — In a now-viral video, a white man is seen allegedly trying to snap an African American woman’s neck outside a club, sparking heated debates online. Sha’Neal Fox-Jones, a U.S. Army Staff Sgt., has since spoken out to correct false claims about what happened.
The video shows Fox-Jones talking with the man outside the venue. When he leaned toward her, she lightly tapped his shoulder. Seconds later, he reached for her neck in what appeared to be an attempt to break it.
Fox-Jones reacted instantly, grabbing him by the neck and punching him in the face. The altercation escalated into a fight, but she quickly overpowered him. The clip, posted on X, has since gained 5.5 million views.
According to The Root, speculation spread online that the attack was triggered by rejection. Many believed the man targeted Fox-Jones after unwanted advances, fueling conversations about violence against women who say no.
However, Fox-Jones clarified on TikTok that the man wasn’t trying to kiss or hit on her. She said the man had already been in a physical fight inside the club, where he allegedly choked another man before being thrown out. According to her, he was drunk and trying to reenter when she intervened to calm him down.
Fox-Jones confirmed she filed a police report and gave her statement. She described the experience as deeply distressing. “The first two weeks were really hard. I truly felt traumatized. I was having nightmares… I want 2025 to be over. This is a lot.”
