Shaynuh Sloane’s Debut Novel “Jade Choyce” Exposes Systemic Racism and Sexism in Federal Workplace

Sloane Draws from Personal Experience to Shed Light on Rarely Discussed Issue Affecting Black Women

Nationwide — In her groundbreaking debut novel Jaded Choyce, author Shaynuh Sloane exposes the systemic racism, sexism, and toxicity festering in many government agencies through the riveting story of Chloe Choyce, a Black single mother whose career dreams are shattered by a hostile work environment. Raised near the nation’s capital, Sloane drew from her own experiences as a project management and cybersecurity professional in the federal government to craft Chloe’s journey. “I wrote Jaded Choyce to give voice to the countless brilliant Black women whose ambition and mental health have been casualties of workplace toxicity,” said Sloane. “My hope is that Chloe’s story empowers readers to resist conventional narratives, speak up, and fight for their rights.”
