Nationwide — Two single moms from metro Atlanta, Georgia had their dreams come true when NFL legend Warrick Dunn helped them become homeowners. Dunn teamed up with Habitat for Humanity to provide support to these families.“This means the world to us — stability, peace, generational wealth. Passing it on down to them so that we can make it happen. It’s just one of my dreams, and I’m very happy. We are so grateful,” Christine, one of the moms, told 11Alive.
Christine works in customer service and has long wished for a yard where her daughters could play. With Dunn’s help, that dream is now a reality. Dunn’s charity provided a $5,000 down payment assistance check and $10,000 worth of furnishings from Aaron’s, making the move into their new homes smoother and more affordable.
Genair, the other recipient, has worked as an orthopedic technician in Atlanta for over 40 years. She plans to share her new home with her grandchildren, who are all entrepreneurs.
“I am overjoyed and overwhelmed. I am happy, thankful and grateful to God. I was totally blown away. It means everything to me. Don’t give up, keep going, just do everything in your power to make it happen,” Genair said.
Warrick Dunn, a Georgia Sports Hall of Famer and former NFL star, has a long history of giving back to the community. He expressed his happiness for the new homeowners.
“The little girls were just so excited to walk in, and the reactions and expressions, those things really stand out,” Dunn said.
