Norwood spoke during a livestream Monday, explaining that Ray J was hospitalized on January 6 for pneumonia and heart issues. Doctors ran tests after he reported chest pains. She insisted, “This is not fake. It’s not a hoax, it’s not him trying to get attention.”
According to WBLS, she said she and her husband flew to Las Vegas after a friend called with concerns about Ray J’s condition. The family shared that doctors advised him to rest, take medication, and adjust his lifestyle to protect his health.
Speculation grew after a Valentine’s Day concert in Baton Rouge when video seemed to show blood under his eyes. A backstage photographer later clarified that the blood came from a bottle, and Norwood rejected claims that her son was seeking publicity.
Ray J has also faced legal and family issues, including discussions about his children with his estranged wife and his mother at a recent hearing. Reports indicate his heart function is around 25 percent, and he has a history of substance use and ongoing health struggles.
